About Us

Bringing the awesome since 1992...

The Parents

David is an IT Director for a surgical clinic. He likes to work out, read a lot, go mountain biking, come up with far too many story ideas for me to finish in a lifetime, and he makes amazing things out of Legos. Seriously, check him out. Food is very important to him; he'll tell you about any vacation we've ever taken in terms of what we ate, down to the smallest detail. He's crazy smart and when he talks about work, I usually have no idea what he's talking about.

Claire, that's me, is a former marketing manager turned stay-at-home-homeschooling-mom-with-a-part-time-job-as-a-writer-and-big-aspirations-to-be-a-novelist-someday. I work for these guys, and let me tell you, they are slave drivers. Actually, I can't back that up - they are really my parents. Mostly I fail miserably at keeping my house clean in favor of things like living room picnics, endless art projects, reading books (to the kids, or if I'm really lucky, to myself), and really important stuff like Facebook and blog reading. I get up early and do Crossfit, because I'm a little nutty and exercise makes me a much nicer person.

We're a Catholic family; we're rather geeky and love things like comics and fantasy novels. We love camping and kayaking and mountain biking, although we don't get out and do enough of it.

We have been together since we were 15, which is sort of ridiculous and super awesome at the same time. We started dating in 1992, got married in 1999, and you know what they say... first comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby in the baby carriage...

The Minions

David is currently 9, and in third grade. He loves all things science, particularly dinosaurs and essentially any predatory animals. He's fascinated by scorpions, spiders, snakes, sharks, and lizards. He is lobbying hard for a pet leopard gecko (which is still in "we'll see" limbo-land), and currently aspires to be both a surgeon and a paleontologist when he grows up. The kid has big dreams, that much is for sure. He's our big helper - so kind and very sensitive, always wanting to help. He's outgoing and loves to be the center of attention.

Grayson is 6 and in first grade. His spatial abilities blow my mind - he can accurately place almost any country in the world, and any state in the union, by its shape. He loves geography and is crazy good at math. He marches to the beat of his own drum and probably has no idea anyone else has a drum at all. He is pretty much one of the funniest people I know and almost everything he says is so cute I could eat him up.

Ella is 4 and very much the younger sister of two boys. She is super girly, with a love of all things pink and sparkly, but she's a firecracker who can take her brothers out. She is feisty, which I often tell myself will serve her well later in life. Her imagination is fabulous, she loves to play dress up, and she's usually either a princess or a fairy - often with a helmet and sword.
